I am an Australian and UK trained Upper GI and Laparoscopic surgeon. I was trained mainly in the UK before completing an Upper GI Fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney and this was followed by a Laparoscopic Surgical Fellowship in Canberra. During my training, I completed a research thesis resulting in a Master of Philosophy Degree and I won the UK Intensive Care Society’s Travelling Fellowship that allowed me to visit trauma centres in Denver, Memphis and Seattle. I was awarded my Fellowship from the Irish College of Surgeons in 1985 and I won the Gold Medal at the Intercollegiate Examination in General Surgery in February 2003. I was the first surgeon from Belfast ever to win the Gold Medal. I was awarded my Fellowship from the Australian College of Surgeons in 2006.

I specialise in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery of the abdomen and gastrointestinal tract. I offer a comprehensive range of weight loss procedures, all performed laparoscopically. I am a member of the European Hernia Society and have a particular interest in the laparoscopic repair of groin and abdominal hernias.

I have my rooms at Brisbane Private Hospital and I also provide emergency cover to St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital, Brisbane, the Wesley Hospital, Brisbane, and St Andrew's Private Hospital, Ipswich. In addition to consulting at my rooms at Brisbane Private Hospital, I also consult at Canossa Hospital, Oxley, Priority Health Care, Orion Centre, Springfield and Pring Street, Ipswich.

I provide outreach surgical and endoscopy facilities on a monthly basis at Stanthorpe and Warwick.

I have conjoint qualifications in both upper and lower endoscopy and offer an open access endoscopy service in addition to specialist consultation for upper GI disorders.
