Dr Locke Completes Advanced Robotic Training

Advanced Robotic Assisted Surgery (RAS)

Dr Phil Lockie recently completed some advanced training in the use of Robots in Surgery.

Here is his brief  report:

I recently had the pleasure of attending a Robotic Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Lab in Sydney. There were a number of surgeons from New South Wales and Queensland present together with a visitor from Malaysia.

The day's hands on practical course allowed us the opportunity to discuss a variety of aspects regarding complex abdominal wall reconstructions.

A good example was the different surgical approaches to different hernias and which approach might be optimal for each type and size of hernia together with a discussion on the variety of mesh's available.

This was then followed by a practical session carrying out surgical dissection along with observing and critiquing fellow surgeons.

Overall, a very productive day.
