Robotic Assisted Surgery Can Benefit Patients
Dr Phil Lockie's exploration of Robotic Assisted Surgery (RAS) almost ten years ago has aligned with changes in the use of of robotic technology in surgical practice and its growing acceptance by the general community.
It's not surpising really, considering medicine has been driven by technological progress and improved medical knowledge since the year dot.
But somehow, this seems slightly different, not necessarily having having the surgeon's hands on the patient, possibly in a preview of a future where the surgeon need not be in close proximity to the operating theatre.
Currently, the surgeon is adjacent to the patient in the operating theatre.
With this background in mind, and having trained extensively in RAS, Dr Lockie and Shirley Lockie PNSA, are now very experienced RAS practitioners. Dr Lockie has written an article for North West Private Hospital on how this technology is shaping surgical practice, and how and when it can benefit patients.
