Medicare Rebates and Telehealth Consultations

New Government Rules

We have been using Telehealth extensively for the last couple of years especially with the ongoing Covid situation and more recently, being very helpful during the flood and its aftermath.

Currently, the Federal Government has indicated that the Telehealth item numbers for both 

• initial appointments and
• appointments for patients who have not been seen in the last twelve months,

will cease on the 30th June 2022.

After that date, if you elect to have a Telehealth consultation in those situations, you will not be eligible for a Medicare rebate.

Obviously, that situation may change going forward and we will keep you up to date.
