September 23 Weight Loss Support Group Summary

Here is the report from the September 2023 Support Group from Dr Michele Van Vuuren.

Unconscious biased beliefs can play a significant role in how individuals perceive and make decisions about weight maintenance and future weight loss surgery.

People often hold unconscious biases and stereotypes about weight, body size, and obesity. These biases can influence attitudes and behaviours.

Decision-Making About Weight Loss Surgery

  • Biased beliefs can influence an individual's decision to undergo weight loss surgery.
  • Some individuals may be deterred from considering surgery due to fears related to bias or stereotypes.

All patients interested in bariatric/metabolic surgery in the practice are welcome to attend.

If you would like to attend the Support Group, you need to be a Dr Lockie patient.

You can qualify by attending a free consultation with Shirely Lockie here.
